Wave connects incoming 1st-year university students through 1-on-1 chats with other students from their school who are in their program or share common interests, allowing meaningful friendships to be formed, despite the lack of on-campus activities this year.

Hi Product Hunt! This year’s incoming 1st-year university/college students are missing a huge part of the university experience- meeting new people. An online semester for most students makes it difficult to meet new people and make new friends. Wave connects incoming 1st-year students from the same university through 1-on-1 chats. Students are matched with others who are in their program or share common interests. Both students’ name, program, and their common interests are displayed during the chat, giving them several topics to talk about. Wave was founded by 5 incoming 1st-year University of Waterloo students and we hope that it can help students meet new people, even when classes are online. We just launched our beta for University of Waterloo students and are expanding to other schools very soon! Enjoy Wave!
