WeChef extracts recipes from Instagram posts and reels, turning them into easy-to-follow formats with clear instructions and ingredient lists. Personally, we love discovering recipes to cook on Instagram, but we realized that the way they're presented can make it hard to follow directly from the posts. **Some of the issues we were running into:** 1. Re-watching videos multiple times to make sure we didn’t miss any steps. 2. Having to scroll back and forth from the video to ingredients and recipes in the captions/comments section. 3. Struggling to keep track of Instagram recipes and viewing them in a consistent, easy-to-read format. 4. Discovering enticing dishes that are presented in a different language. So we decided we wanted to create a one-stop shop for Instagram (social media/viral) recipes. **Our Solution:** 1. Transcribe Instagram Reels into easy-to-read recipes and ingredients. 2. One centralized place to see both the video and ingredients/instructions. 3. Have a list of your saved recipes all in the same easy-to-read format that can be accessed later at your own convenience. 4. Translate the recipe posted in different languages to English (for now). We take all available information from the post, whether it’s in the video, audio, or text, and transcribe that into an easy-to-read recipe with AI assistance. In the end, we want to create a place where all the recipes are put in the same simple format and try to give users a more complete version of some recipes. We are still in beta, and we expect there to be bugs and certain recipes that we won’t be able to process. However, with the advance of AI, our product will also become more accurate and more helpful over time. As we add more features in the future, our vision is to make WeChef a place to help users save recipes from various social media platforms, enjoy cooking recipes they’ve saved, discover recipes from other users, and make the whole process of cooking fun, efficient, and easy.
