@rrhoover i don't see iPhone here. Wait is this an official WhatsApp client? Android users how is it? It's a pretty neat way to solve the problem of having a web account with a phone# tethered messaging app despite the dodo-ness of QR codes

@rrhoover Also not yet iPhone compatible apparently. But I do like the concept. Stigma about QR codes aside, this would be a seemingly very secure way of logging in to a web interface. To the user it's a single factor authentication but the security of a two factor. Not as easy as a traditional email/password combination but I would bet it's far, far more secure and harder to "game" as your unique identifier with WhatsApp is your actual phone number.

@rrhoover Mostly a reply for the benefit of others who might be tempted to work out what the code is, but this QR code isn't a URL ;-) It's three base64 encoded binary payloads (of 112, 32, and 16 bytes in length respectively) separated by commas with no immediately obvious pattern to them (though I'd put money on one of them being a HMAC or an encoded timestamp of some sort..)

@benln @yuvals You have to open it within WhatsApp not with a QR Scanner :p
