Bug reports has looked the same since forever. It's time to fix that. Whitespace captures every possible detail automatically and puts it all in a neat little package you can share as link.

Hey Product Hunt! πŸ‘‹ I'm excited to announce the free Personal plan for Whitespace! I grew frustrated with the we did bug reports in previous teams. To write a good bug report you need to convey a lot of information. It takes effort, is time consuming and feels like a chore. So, instead, a lot of bug reports tend to be too short on info and too ambiguous. This creates necessary back-and-forth between reporters/product managers/developers. Some golden nuggets: ⏲️ One minute recordings: for complex flows you can record up to one minute πŸ”™ Time travel: save the last minute of your current tab as a recording πŸ™ˆ Privacy filter: removes passwords and tokens from the UI and requests (custom privacy filter on the way) πŸ‘ Carbon copy: recordings are an exact copy of what happened. So you can use your regular devtools to inpsect html and css. A recording consists of: html & css, console logs, http requests, navigations, user interactions, local/session storage. Whitespace is a Chrome extension and lets you create the perfect bug report without writing a single sentence by allowing you to record everything that happens in your browser when the bug happens. Send the recording off to a developer and they will know exactly what, how and when. I've just added a free Personal plan that is perfect for personal and side projects. Let me know what you think! Happy bug hunting! πŸ› Joachim

congrats on the launch of whitespace, your approach to simplifying bug reports is intriguing. the one-minute recording feature is especially interesting. can you share how users have found the transition to using a visual tool versus the traditional text-based reporting?

Hey Joachim and the Whitespace team, congrats on the launch! πŸŽ‰ This looks like a game-changer for bug reporting. The one-minute recordings and time travel features sound incredibly useful for capturing and reproducing issues without the usual hassle. It’s great that you've considered privacy too with the upcoming custom filters. The free Personal plan is a sweet touch, making it accessible for individual developers and small teams. Can't wait to try it out on my projects and see how it streamlines my debugging process. Best of luck, and happy bug hunting! πŸ›

Hey @joachimlindq congrats on the launch! πŸ₯³ What could be the USP of your product which makes it different from another?? keep going.
Joachim Lindqvist
Thanks, @sheikhirfan10! Whitespace has a custom built recording engine that is designed to capture every frame exactly as it happened. Other similar products usually use rrweb. While rrweb is fine for session replays, like Hotjar, it's not the best solution for bug reports. You need to be able to trust that the report of a bug is the same as what the user experienced. Whitespace also allows recordings from localhost. It works because every css file and image is fetched and stored and thus replayable. Developers can record bugs, fixes and features locally during development to share with colleagues. For security and privacy reasons you have to white list pages you want to be able to record. This is to make sure that you can decide what Whitespace has access to. Some service record everything that happens in your active tab. That's not very nice.

Amazing tool, really easy for testers to understand. Already one of my testers is using it and he is loving it. Normally he needs to send separate screenshots of the logs, but now it's much easier. If he shares the link of the recording, how long is this link alive? Congrats on your launch!
Joachim Lindqvist
Hey @michon_van_vilsteren That's great to hear! πŸ˜„ The link will stay alive forever. If you want to remove a recording you have to do it manually on the edit page for the recording.

@joachimlindq love it! also very generous with your pricing so kudos to that! Again my tester loves the product so Congrats on the launch!
