Awesome new community of experts put together by the WorkRamp team. I’ve always wondered what it would be like to go behind the scenes at companies that have built not just great products, but great teams. From how Airbnb trains data scientists to how Eero trains customer support reps, it’s amazing to see how the best companies do it and get access to their resources. Could have used this earlier in my startup career ;)
@alexisohanian thanks for hunting us!
We’re excited to be releasing The WorkRoom, a platform for accessing open-sourced training kits from great companies like Airbnb, Uber, eero, Mixpanel, and more.
If you’ve ever had to train a new employee in a new function, you know how hard it is to know even where to start. With these new training kits, you get the templates, resources, and tools already in use by the best companies for training employees in roles like data science, sales, and customer support.

Would love to get your feedback!
Learning new skills quickly, and implementing structured processes on top of these learnings, is essential to everything we do in our company; I think that is true for most companies!
As you guys are expanding these features, I am wondering if it could be possible to suggest teams from other companies to share their insights? I would, for example, love to learn how IDEO or FROG Design think about user experience and how they teach their teams. It would be interesting if you could crowdsource ideas in specific domains, and then have users suggest and upvote ideas/teams to learn from, similar to how it happens as answers on Quora, ideas on PH, or answers on reddit!:)
If companies expose their internal processes, an added benefit is it could be positioned as a 'recruiting engine' for these companies. Designers learning UX from IDEO = very targeted recruiting
I love the idea of democratizing training and best practices across the industry. It's great that this tool has the versatility to be used by varied teams across a company for their employee training. I know you're focused on an initial set of job types. Do you see yourself expanding to more functional areas? Do you expect these different functions will require specific feature sets themselves? And finally, how can teams cross-pollinate with the success they've had with WorkRoom across an organization--e.g. engineering finds WorkRoom tremendously successful, how can they champion its usage by, say, the sales team?
@kprior88 definitely expanding into more areas soon. we see a lot of demand for engineering and management training. each kit will be slightly customized to fit the needs of that role, especially when it comes to integrations - so look out for new partnerships there! slack has been a great platform for that spreading that word of mouth internally. always exciting to see that sharing happening organically.
We’ve been using WorkRamp to train our sales team for a while now and are super excited about this new resource😍 What a great way to help us learn and uplevel our existing training! And beyond that, this will be especially valuable for those who are just getting started developing a training program. Great work - keep it coming!🙌🏻🙌🏻
So excited to see WorkRamp release an awesome new product! This will undoubtedly be incredibly helpful in onboarding everywhere. How much do the training kits cost?
Great to see Ted's team building out open source best practices. I am excited that the market is building better experiences for employee onboarding, WorkRoom looks like it is a great way to share best practices and gather inspiration from great companies. I have used WorkRamp and am excited to access the knowledge Ted's team has aggregated for our own employee training.
Wow this is great and would have saved our team valuable time! Having had to onboard new employees, I could have definitely benefited from templates to streamline the process and advice from the best on how to approach training.
How long are the typical trainings and kits?
Been following the strength of Workramp's training software for quite some time now, and this really takes things to the next level. Everyone could use a little inspiration or a launch pad, and this opens up an entirely new community element to the product. There's no confusion or ambiguity, but a whole new starting launch pad that will continue to grow in strength as more and more teams catch on. This tool seems to be far ahead of the game, and I can't wait to see what they do next!
Those first four kits look like a great start. Looking forward to seeing future kits on engineering and ops.
Does this integrate into WorkRamp or is it standalone?
@elh000 Great question! Yes, WorkRoom will integrate directly into WorkRamp if you want to implement the kits at your company. Almost similar to how you can share repos on Github, but also use their products internally--the goal of WorkRoom is to help professionals learn from each other, while also providing the tools needed to deploy.
Wow! I think it's one of the most useful websites I've ever seen. It will be used by our team for sure. And I hope results of training kits use will be amazing.
