Really excited to finally release our OpenAI integration with Xata! With this work form @daniel_everts and the team, it's extremely easy to extend your search use case and build some pretty amazing Q&A workflows for your knowledge base, documentation or whatever your search use case may be. We can't wait to see how our users use this new addition to our platform πŸ¦‹

ChatGPT knows that the shortest commercial flight in the world is only 90 seconds long, between the two Orkney Islands in Scotland. What would it say about your data? Hey everyone! Dan here, engineer at Xata, the data platform for modern web applications. Today, we're excited to announce the newest integration with our data platform, OpenAI's ChatGPT πŸ¦‹ Like many, we've been inspired by the recent advancements in AI. Seeing what's been achieved with ChatGPT got us thinking; could we offer the same experience, only customized with YOUR data? This started as a challenge, and grew into a demo. Our first swing at it was focused on "reasonableness"; reasonable results in a reasonable amount of time. After a bunch of iterations, we started converging on something that worked. We (naturally) already had our documentation stored in Xata, so, along with our existing search capabilities, we were able to integrate with OpenAI and get back results. As the dust settled from the demo, it became clear that the feature worked well for our documentation and that it also worked great with other datasets. With sufficient data in your database, it could answer a wide range of questions. So, off we went, polishing the feature into a general-purpose API that could be used by anyone already using Xata. We're now proud to share this API with you. It's available now, and can be used on data you already have in your database, without any work from you. This feature is perfect as a companion for search. We see it as especially helpful in creating great knowledge base and documentation experiences. We're excited about this launch and we hope you are too! We have a long list of ideas for things to enhance, and will continue to fine-tune what's already there to make it better and better. We're excited to hear what you think about it, ideas you have, and of course what you get to building with it. If you're ready to dig deeper, read the announcement on our website, find more information about the product, or get to business directly via our sample app on Github. Otherwise, come say hi! We're on Discord and Twitter.
