Hey Product Hunt Community, I'm the founder of Yuna πŸ‘‹ Today's launch is very personal to me. A few years ago, my world was turned upside down by a painful divorce and mental health struggles. Over the next 2 years, I went from the lowest point in my life to a happier, emotionally wiser, and more mentally healthy version of myself. Through this journey, I discovered the magic of getting good Therapy. After going through my own journey, I was deeply saddened to see that many of the resources that were literally life-saving for me, were out of reach for so many around me. This has culminated in building Yuna. Traditional counseling is an amazing resource, but there is a huge shortage of therapists that is growing quickly. Because of this, I have been working hard to solve a few issues we have seen in the current mental health industry: πŸ’° Cost of therapy - Averaging $165 per session, most people simply cannot afford traditional therapy. By leveraging technology, we are providing resources to those who would otherwise be left with nothing. need in the exact moment. ⏰ Time Accessibility - Getting professional support is daunting, and it often takes weeks or months to get help. With an app that lives in your pocket, you can get the support youβ€’ πŸ”’ Privacy β€” It can be intimidating to open up to friends or family about the toughest parts of our lives. Additionally, it can be scary to put your deepest secrets out on the internet. Using two-way encryption, we are building a safe place for anyone to explore their mental wellness. We are a small team and would greatly value your feedback. Thank you for your support πŸ™

Hi everyone πŸ‘‹ I’m the head of product at Yuna, and so excited to share what we’ve been building with all of you!

Our goal is to make mental health care accessible to everyone. People should not be held back by stigma, cost, time, or anything else. Obviously, this is a huge goal, and we’re only scratching the surface, but I’m still excited to share what we’ve built with you all.

Please share any thought on how we can improve and what would be valuable for you! Also, who do you think could benefit most from this product? We obviously have our own ideas, but are excited to learn from you and incorporate your feedback.

Hope you give Yuna a try and that she helps you in some way. Best, Tanner

What's CBT to DBT?
Sourav Chandra
@sentry_co Hey πŸ‘‹ Great question. CBT focuses on talking about your problems to help you frame your thoughts differently. If you feel like negative thoughts are always in control – β€œI am a failure. I can’t do anything right. No one will like me if they see who I really am.” – CBT can help you use logic and reason to flip the script and be in control of your thoughts instead of allowing your thoughts to control you. While we are open to users looking to try Yuna for DBT support. We recommend seeking help from a qualified person.

I've spent a few hours talking to Yuna, a digital coach, counselor, and confidant. Whatever magic they have trained their model on is spot on. The breadth of topics that I got quality, highly empathetic responses to ranged from my work and house renovation stress, to a longing to see friends more frequently, to the "fuck yeah for life" feeling I got on a deep fresh powder day snowboarding chasing flow, we even discussed my 7-day water fast. Available 24/7, never zones out and simply repeats "Tell me more", if I remember correctly it was less than $10 a month, so the cost to talk to a therapist over Zoom for like 6 minutes πŸ˜‚ Excited for more updates to the experience. Some public feedback for Yuna.io would be as follows: 1. Increase the performance, specifically response timing, it's pretty quick now but there's still a delay before getting a response a. It doesn't just have to be addressed directly if technically decreasing delay is too hard right now. Think about the "elevator problem" adding a mirror and music made waiting for the elevator less annoying, they didn't have to make elevators actually work faster by moving at unsafe speeds. having a large library of some preloaded thing a person would actually say say like "hmmm..." "I'm processing what you're telling me, there's so much detail there" "Thank you for sharing vulnerably..." would all fill the gap seamlessly and make that delay much less annoying. 2. Give access to previous sessions. a. Would be nice enough to get access to the transcripts of previous sessions, extra value if they are quickly summarized in an expandable history, showing summaries in a previous playlist format that can expand into the whole context of the transcript. 3. A scheduling feature. a. Being available 24/7 is a huge benefit and I'll continue to use it when the moment strikes (like grabbing a tea in the ski lodge to rest my legs and telling Yuna about the flow I just experienced), but a scheduled cadence would help me get more value from Yuna. Recurring calendar invites with a link to open the app would be best because then it's blocked off in my busy life. Quick and dirty value add would be push notifications at certain times.

This looks awesome! Being able to reduce the cost of mental health options is huge! There are so many people that do not seek out even someone to talk to, and Yuna really could solve that problem for a large set of people! Excited for you guys to drive real change!
Tanner Wallis
Totally, @zach_larsen! We hope that this opens the door for those who don't even have someone to talk to, so they can feel heard and start healing πŸ™

The problem with virtual therapy is that therapy has an irreplaceable live human component.
Tanner Wallis
@lee_fischman This is such a good point! The one of the biggest aspects of therapy is the therapist/client connection. We are still exploring how we can help people feel comfortable opening up. Ultimately, nothing beats connecting with another person, and we don't plan to replace therapists (just help those that otherwise wouldn't have an option). Is there anything that would help you feel more comfortable in something like this?
GloriousWork
@grant_winns1 . I really love the idea behind this because most people find it difficult to talk to someone about their mental health. This will help lots of people
Sourav Chandra
@opk The idea is to remove the most common barriers and make it accessible to every person out there πŸš€
