Hi Product Hunt community! 👋 I'm Greg (欧利), creator of yuyin.io. As someone learning Chinese, I found that getting accurate feedback on pronunciation was one of the biggest challenges. That's why I built Yuyin - to provide instant, detailed feedback on Chinese pronunciation using AI. Key features: - Real-time pronunciation assessment with scores for accuracy, fluency, and so on - Adaptive difficulty levels from beginner (HSK1) to advanced (HSK5) - Custom phrase input for practicing specific words or sentences - AI conversation partner for speech practice - Demo available without registration The app uses Azure Services for pronunciation analysis and ChatGPT to generate practice phrases and conversations. All features are optimized for Mandarin Chinese learners at any level. I'd love to hear your feedback and answer any questions! Happy to discuss both the learning and technical aspects of the project. Try it out at yuyin.io 🎯 What other features would you find helpful for language learning?

Pronunciation is definitely a major challenge in learning Chinese. I’m glad to see there is an AI assistant like Yuliana helping people learn Chinese. Does it have an app version? It will be more convenient for people to use.

Grigorii Orlov

@evakk Not yet, but I'm going to launch app versions in two weeks. Thank you!

This is super useful for anyone tackling Chinese tones and pronunciation. Love the real time feedback, exactly what’s needed to build confidence faster.

@gemanor Thanks for the kind words! Really happy to hear it helps build confidence - that's exactly what we aimed for with the real-time feedback. Keep mastering those tones and let me know if you need any tips!

Hey Grigorii, thanks so much for creating this. You're right, the feedback is so crucial. sometimes I'll be saying something exactly as I learned it (so I think) and no one understands me. This will be immediately added to my Mandarin practice. Also where can I find more information explaining the different forms of evaluation on my pronunciation; like how can I get 100 fluency but be 50% Accurate?
Grigorii Orlov

@terrence_kelleman Hey, Terrence! Thank you for the great feedback and for sharing your experience!

Currently, you can hover over the evaluation marks on desktop to see explanations. Accuracy measures how closely your individual sounds (phonemes) match native speakers, while fluency looks at your overall speech flow - things like natural pauses and word connections. So it's possible to speak very smoothly (high fluency) but with sounds that aren't quite accurate yet.

Since you're actively practicing Mandarin, you might want to check out our new tone practice features at YuYin - both speaking (yuyin.io/speak-tone) and listening (yuyin.io/listen). I just added these today; they could help master those tricky tones!

Let me know if you have any other questions about the evaluation system - I'm planning to make it more intuitive in the next update.

Launching soon!

I’ve heard that in Chinese, pronunciation and tones are more important than just being able to read and speak. This product is incredibly useful for that! I was just recently looking for something like this. Will try it out!

@kay_arkain Thats true indeed. Thank you!
