Zenkit To do is a task list app designed to simplify your daily task management. With a beautiful, intuitive design, smart lists, reminders, and more, To Do enables you to collaborate with your team, family, and friends, wherever you are.
Companies are so afraid to create anything truly new that are basically just copying each other, for too long a while.
Why would I even try?
Why would it replace my current one?
Why is that new? Or needed?
It just plays on Wunderlist looks and forgotten greatness.
Like a new inexpensive copy of your favourite t-shirt that, if youโre honest, youโve already accepted that you can no longer use it and.. moved on.
Apologies for the venting. Congratulations on the launch.
Itโs just so boring..
@lyondhur Hey Lyondhur, thanks for your insightful comment. I get it, a lot of these things can feel the same after a while... In this case we specifically worked hard to make it feel similar to Wunderlist, since so many people rely on it and haven't been so happy with the current alternatives (everyone has their preference!).
That said, there is a lot that makes Zenkit special and quite different - particularly in how the apps interact with each other. I'm happy to elaborate if you'd like to continue this conversation! But if it's not for you, that's cool too!
@lyondhur I'm in no way associated with Zenkit just for the record and only came across it today but why shouldn't they replicate the simplicity of Wunderlist and use it as a starting point then improve on its features over time? My ideal Todo app would be a fusion of several different todo apps like wunderlist, ticktick and todoist. Maybe Zenkit will offer something extra in the coming weeks or months. What I like so far is the simple design and the options to upload your own backgrounds. With the way I have it set up after 1hr it already feels like Wunderlist 2.0
@phil_hallam1 Sure mate.. I get where you're coming from.
However, that would be based on the use, wishlist and needs of one persona, people such as yourself, or people missing Wunderlist, etc. AND you still don't have what you believe it is what you want or need, given that โ like all of us โ youโre still handpicking from a collation of other apps.
Which is exactly my point: near-sameness.
Just as individually, I could endlessly counter-argument by saying that although it is cool, and nice, and Wunderlist-like, and yada yada, it would still not be enough for me to replace Things 3. That would also be irrelevant to the point I tried to make. Let me try and do better..
Here's a metaphor: Let's assume you love, like I do, Iain Banks' books.
How would you feel if they were the ONLY books available and you had to re-read it endlessly? Or even worse, how would you feel if other authors were only capable of writing his same stories, just changing a few meaningless details? Don't answer that.
Like @siororke so kindly engaged to explain - in an equally one-persona-only basis - 'what makes Zenkit ToDo special' is its communicability with their own toolset and systems.
Again, special to people either targeted or currently with Axonic. One user persona off two twin profiles.
Apart from that, it's.. just the same app as any other todo list; at present with even less functionality than free ones.
Which is totally fine, as they don't need to be the adopted one only app in the world to be profitable and serve their customers well.
My point is that for a long time things have been nothing but basically cloned. Often times in function and, in Zenkit's case, even the design, feel and looks are a copy.
I very strongly believe that this ecosystem based on small incremental changes, that revolves around the same circle of long-fulfilled needs, isn't doing anything to change the way that we work at all.
That quote "Good artists copy, great artists steal" can only go as far as inspiration. When nobody is able to do nothing but both, it's no longer good, definitely not great and certainly not art. I guess knock-off is a harsh but fitting term here.
It's just another app. Another well-known app that, sure works fine and does what the other umpteenth app does, but not much more than that. In reality, actually nothing more than that.
I'm not trashing Zenkit at all. They are an awesome team and the product is solid.
In saying that, I reckon that very much like everybody else, it's just a very special, not special at all, new same option.
I'm also to blame, as a designer and T&R manager myself not providing an alternative. But as a user, I'm beyond tired of the "new" ToDo app.
I wished companies could muster a little bit more daring and showed at least a tad more will to change and improve things, instead of this incredibly worn out sea of repetition.
Again, in no way at all Zenkit/Axonic-centric and valid for me to basically all competitors.
I just hope good teams and projects, such as theirs, snapped out of this state of ennui and actually focused at shifting things around for the better, boldly, daringly. This is too easy, too comfortable, too meh.
Please don't try to sell me that book, again.
It's actually a very good product. I was a fan of Wunderlist and this recreates it almost exactly. It doesn't need the fake comments (on here) and reviews (on Windows Store). So yeah...
Hi Product Hunt! ๐
Today, weโre proud to finally release Zenkit To Do!
Zenkit To Do is a task manager designed to simplify your daily task management through intuitive design, smart lists, reminders, and more. Itโs no coincidence itโs features and interface are so similar to Wunderlist... Zenkit To Do was developed to make Wunderlist users feel right at home after the impending shutdown in May.
Youโre probably wondering why we bothered developing โjust another to-do appโ since the market is rife with these tools. Well, not only did we want to fill the void Wunderlist will leave, Zenkit To Do can do something no other task app can do...
Today's apps are either simple lists (such as Wunderlist, Todoist, or Microsoft To Do) or complex project management tools with multiple views (such as Wrike or JIRA). However, the reality is that different types of people need different types of tools to accomplish their tasks. How can a single app do it all?
Our super simple to-do app is fully integrated with the original Zenkit platform. This means you can work on your tasks in the to-do app or use sophisticated views like Kanban and Gantt charts in the original Zenkit app. All the apps share one data store. No syncing, no imports, no hassle!
We wanted to bring people from different levels together, from managers who need high-level project overviews, to team members who just want a list of actionable tasks.
Here are the features to expect in Zenkit To Do:
Smart lists (starred, today, this week)
Shared lists
Reminders
Comments
Assigned to me
Subtasks
Dark mode
Offline access
Direct connection to the Zenkit universe
Enterprise ready features
And much, much more...
If youโd like to give it a try, you can sign up for a Zenkit To Do account at https://zenkit.com/todo ๐ Weโre excited to see how youโll manage your tasks with Zenkit To Do!
@emadmokhtar I'm sorry to hear that Emad! ๐ค Our dev team are looking into it right now and we'll get back to you. In the meantime, you can give the web app a try (it's just as good!): todo.zenkit.com
Sounds good! Really looking forward to use this product since I'm a heavy user of Zenkit anyway regarding every aspect of my life. Sometimes it feels heavy though, so this could be a great extension for different aspects of my organization. And since everything you guys do is great, I'm sure this product will also be!! Will test it thoroughly and let you know what I think โ๐ผ๐
@florian_geimer So happy to hear that Florian! ๐ Let us know if we can share any tips (or maybe you can share some ideas with us!) Looking forward to your feedback ๐๐
Hi! Zenkit To Do looks interesting
I've used a Todoist for 3 years, but sometimes looking for something better.. What do you have that don't have a Todoist?
I also have similar question.
I've been testing Todoist it works nice as a daily scheduler. However its Reminder feature locked behind Premium subscription (which I honestly think should be a free feature).
Coming to Zenkit I find its really nice to look at, quite simple UI yet intuitive. Reminder is available (which really I really like).
Personally I would probably rate Zenkit higher than Todoist in terms of personal use (e.g. daily schedule). I have not tried your Upgrade plan yet so I would not comment on this for now.
@nuta_blinicheva Great question Nuta ๐ Right now the app itself is quite similar to Todoist, except we might have different things available in the free vs. paid plans (as Tommy pointed out).
The really special thing about Zenkit To Do, though, is the way that it plays with the original (and all upcoming) Zenkit products. Direct sync with these other tools means you can have access to a whole lot more functionality (like kanban boards and mind maps), if you need it. We will also be rolling out a lot more features over the coming weeks ๐
Snappy mobile Android app.
I've lost my tasks in Todoist few years ago, Microsoft to-do is not an adequate replacement for Wunderlist and I like Zenkit ToDo better than TickTick.
Zenkit ToDo has the potential to be the best to-do app for solo users that don't require project management features.
I can't wait to see what's coming next!
Is there a ZenKit ToDo public roadmap available?
