Hello, hello! I'm Berk, one of the co-founders. We see Zeplin as a connected space for product teams where they can share designs, generate specs, assets and code snippets. One of the biggest things we care about is that Zeplin generates these resources tailored for each platform including iOS, Android and Web, even frameworks like React Native. It's been almost 3 years since we launched 1.0 right here on Product Hunt. Today, we're super excited to launch 2.0, with components and a ton more goodies. The components feature is a step towards design systems for Zeplin, where designers can export symbols from Sketch and they will be listed under the new Components tab of the project Styleguide. When engineers select a layer that’s inside a component they can quickly see the component name and a link that will take them to it. Can't wait to hear what you all think! ✌️

I have been using this tool to share designs with stakeholders and developers for a long time now (since October 2015). Everybody loves Zeplin and it was so cool to follow the journey of the company and the evolution of the product.

Everything got better since we started using it, but I would like to mention two things that could still use some improvements:

1. Slicing and exporting assets from Sketch produces a different result when compared to the Zeplin svg export (for example, icons even have different sizes) - most of the times we need to drop the files into illustrator and tweak them there to ensure good results.

2. Organizing projects with tons of exported screens is a huge hassle (especially if the project was not organized properly from the beginning). You can use tags and sections to group screens but if you're designing complex products, you will probably find that not to be enough.

Slicing and exporting svg assets still needs to be improved

it's the right direction but far from being very useful. I prefer what Invision does with Design Systems Manager. They give you a rich comment editor that helps you describe each component and also allows you to add code. That way it can become a documentation for the frontend engineers, where they can go and copy paste the code for each element.

Zeplin has transformed our dev team. No more having a zillion versions of a PDF or designers spending a ton of time annotating designs. No more searching a million folders in a million places for assets, no more searching through emails to find answers to questions, and no more debates between developers about how to interpret the design. I love love love having everything in one place in such an easy to use format, I would never go back to the old way of doing things!

@ceylanismail, @merihakar, @berkcebi A quick thought if you have started with B2B : a) Track companies who have recently raised funds. They are going to spend money on products which can help smoothen the work of their product teams. b) Track companies who are hiring for product managers. If a company is hiring, it means it is spending money on product team and again would be happy to use products which can improve their efficiency. LMK your thoughts on this and also how are you targeting the companies.

Don't ever try to click 'share to slack' button. There is no close btn on the pop up window. You have to force Zeplin to quit and restart your computer. Really annoying.

Updated yesterday and crushed.

Hey guys! Any good alternative? Zeplin is great but it's same way mindlessly expensive. Really $122 too much for, let's say 3-4 people in the office and 5-6 projects in a month? No way. So any good idea how pay near $30-50 and make life of our frontend-developers easier?
