My team has been using this tool for a year and to say that it was instrumental for our team spirit, cohesion and closeness is an understatement. I went from having a detached team during covid who weren't close, to having the closest team. We now know each other, we care about each other's hobbies and likes and dislikes, we have fun together and all this while not taking away from work all day. It doesnt feel like organised fun either and not too time consuming. This has been the best tool for us and I'm so happy we started using it! Thank you Recess team!
I use it for my team. Each week we use the Recess icebreaker question in our team meeting to help connect. Its nice that as the team lead I don't have to invent something and can trust that what Recess serves up with be good.
For offsites we use the game room so we can play mini games together. We typically are on a VC at the same time so we can talk trash while playing ;)
Beyond fun, helps me get to know my team mates better and we keep growing our group which makes it more and more fun! Cool features, chill design and awesome prompts... Try it out for your team especially if you're distributed/remote!
I've been using Recess with my teams at Meta and found that it's really helped us get to know each other and feel connected while many have never met in person. I love that it lets us add our own questions; as content designers, we like to control the conversation! I've also really appreciated the flexibility on timing. At first, we had daily questions, but at some point we realized that it was too much and slowed down the frequency. This is critical for it to continue being fun, not a chore. Excited to see where the team goes with it in the future!
I love using recess with my team! Super fun questions and also some good more serious ones that have taught me a lot about my coworkers! I especially love the turtle feature!
Simple tool that has added a lot of value to our team. Idea might seem too formal and cheesy, the WFH version of trust falls at corporate retreats. Was pleasantly surprised to see it's actually a good option for asynchronous team fun and getting to know each other better. Hasn't felt contrived or intrusive; I like the options to mix the different levels of questions depending on how well you know your team. The guessing "game" is a lot of fun too!
Recess has been invaluable for team bonding in a remote work climate—even with members that I have never met in person—and our deeper understanding of one another has resulted in improved team health and stronger collaboration.
