So, I earned $15,354 on AppSumo. Here are 3 reasons why I won't ever do that again ๐Ÿ™ˆ

1/3 Crazy commission. I wasnโ€™t able to find out the exact amount of the commission because they made it shady. But people say it is 70%. Don't get me wrong! Iโ€™m OK with giving a cut for having new clients. My affiliate programs have always been ~50% more generous than the average market. But hey. They just took all my money lol ๐Ÿ™‚ 2/3 Low-quality clients. People come to AppSumo NOT for...

I stopped writing code entirely in 2024. Here are my 10 hints for AI coding.

I only copy-paste code generated by AI โœŒ๏ธ๐Ÿค“ Here are my 10 hints (based on real AI coding experience). Hint 1: if you have a creative task such as code architecture, you want to use so called chain of thoughts. You add "Think step-by-step" to your prompt and enjoy a detailed analysis of the problem. Hint 2: create a Project in Claude or a custom GPT and add a basic explanation of your code...

I started a podcast for indie hackers!

Me and my friend John Rush have started a new for indie makers. We discuss the latest trends in the SaaS world from the indie makers' perspective. In the first episode, you will enjoy 3 topics: - Acquisition of LemonSqueezy by Stripe. Is it good or bad? - SaaS boilerplates and the Marc Louvion's one (shipfast) in particular. - - - Should you use it and should you create a new one? - Will...

    I created 6 (six) side-projects over this weekend ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ

๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿ’ป 1/6 https://uploadfile.click It is a single-page web app that uploads your file and gives you a direct URL. Thatโ€™s all! I often need this tool when I work: to embed an image to product hunt or indie hackers (both require a direct link) or to embed a video on a web page. I will use this app to solve the problem of hosting videos online for the clients of Paracast.io as well. So I hope to earn...

    Steal SaaS ideas!!!

It's okay to steal ideas. Everyone does it. Artists, engineers, scientists. They all "borrow" ideas. Here's a good way to do it: after you steal an idea, make it better for a specific group of people. This is called "niching down." It's how small startups beat big tech Examples: โ€ข Stripe: Payments for developers (stolen from PayPal) โ€ข Intercom: Customer support for tech companies (stolen from...

It took me 4 years to come up with the $16k SaaS idea. Here are the 4 steps I did ๐Ÿ˜‰

Step 1: learning HTML+CSS for 3 months. I was genuinely interested in the web dev industry. I spent nights learning from videos made by smart Indian guys on youtube and building for-fun-only side projects such as a habit-tracking app. Step 2: working as a web dev in an agency for 1 year. Since I had no real experience the only offer I got was from a tiny web design agency. The founder was...

This is why marketing is hard

So how to learn marketing? Why no one tells me what EXACT THINGS to do??!?!?! ๐Ÿ˜ค๐Ÿ˜ค๐Ÿ˜ค Well, it is because of learning marketing โ‰  learning coding. Coding is a process with a predictable output. If you use CSS โ€œopacity:0โ€ an element disappears. It happens every time for every student. In contrast, marketing is not a technical science. It is a dynamic field that combines art, creativity, analysis...

    Making a B2C product? You will earn $0 ๐Ÿ˜‡

According to my research, 69.8% of makers prefer starting a B2C product instead of B2B: https://x.com/alexanderisorax/status/1772249784251777384 I had 100s of conversations with makers. I can clearly understand the main reason behind this decision: it is easy to come up with an idea. You just solve your own problem. As an individual, you have many problems: finance tracking, habit tracking,...

I know you are afraid of Reddit but you want to be there

Reddit is growing rapidly because Google started giving Reddit posts on the result page instead of blog articles. I know only one subreddit that allows you to launch and discuss your own projects there - r/SideProject. I believe there is a space for more. So I created a new subreddit โ€” for us, indie makers. It is intended to discuss all things about making SaaS/apps/startups in a bootstrapped...
