Roast my landing page
Hi! This week I launched CoherentCode, my programming mentorship service: https://www.writecoherentcode.com/?utm_campaign=Feedback+Request&utm_source=producthunt&utm_medium=blog
What do you think about the landing? Does it convey the offer well? I tried to go for minimalism in my design, what do you think about it?
Any feedback greatly appreciated!
Cheers,
Toli

Just launched my first productized service for code review - any feedback?
Hi everyone! I've just launched my first productized service! I offer code review services or long-term mentorship.
I'd appreciate any feedback on the idea! Specifically I'd like some feedback on:
- Have you ever had the need to get your code reviewed?
- What do you think of the business model?
- What do you think of the landing page design?
- What do you think of the scope of the product?

Amazing! Immediately bookmarked :) How do you manage to keep it free? Looks like it took a ton of work to make it happen.

Stack for landing pages for developers without UI skills
I found there are lots of landing page builders out there, but they all charge anywhere between 10$ and 30$ for starter plans, some even higher.
I have a background as a developer but I know nothing about design. Here's a stack I came up with to still design good landing pages without knowing anything about design, not pay for the expensive builders, and not get vendor locked by them:

What I found is that Building in Public is very close to contributing to open-source projects on GitHub. You roll-out your idea as frequently as possible, raw, and get people commenting. You get some good feedback and adjust fast!
But your point gives another angle to the entire concept! I'm currently working on a language learning app that explains grammar of sentences,...

Nice! How have you came up with the business model, that is, how do you calculate the flat fee? Are you planning to make a launch for it on PH?
I'm currently also building a productized service. I used to be a freelancer 5 years ago, but these days, it seems going productized is the best way to stand out :)

API for song lyrics?
Seems to be tricky to find an API for song lyrics. I tried:
- https://docs.genius.com/ - provides a link to a page with lyrics in their API, you have to scrape the page which is illegal.
- https://www.musixmatch.com/ - free version gives only 30% lyrics for a song, and paid version is behind "contact us", I contacted them but probably too small a player for them :)
- https://www.lyrics.com/ -...

Looks useful! Are you planning to also allow people to chat one with another? Are you planning to do something like learning assist from the AI, like, if you don't know how to say something, it will explain to you and help you learn faster?

Congratulations on the launch Marc!
This topic is actually close to me as I've been trying to learn Japanese for a while :) I'm a fan of j-pop so I want to learn from the lyrics of my favorite songs. And with GPT-4, I found it's really good to learn grammar with!
One piece of feedback: there's no free trial on your app, so for a new user, there's no way to evaluate what you're offering...

Feedback on my first product for language learners?
Hi!
I'm building a service for language learners to help learn grammar. It's a tool that, given a sentence in a foreign language, explains its grammar. I'm planning to develop it into explaining songs, so you can learn languages while listening to your favorite music.
For now, here's a very raw prototype that explains individual sentences in foreign languages:...

Toolset for rapid UI development for web applications?
I'm looking to build a web app, and user interfaces are the biggest problem for me. It takes a long time to build a simple interface with HTML editing approach. You need to find a CSS framework, think of the layout, encode it in code. If you're not too expert in CSS, you're going to struggle.
While doable for a larger projects, I find the above approach not suitable for rapid prototyping.

Music from Another World
We listen to different music when we are happy, when we are sad, when we are productive, when we are joyful. Different pieces resonate with different mindspaces.
I like to think of each piece of music as coming from its own world. Consider those two mixes:

If you listen closely, you can feel they are coming from two different worlds....

The Rocket Science of an SaaS MVP: what do you use to build it fast?
What do you use to build MVPs of SaaS fast? And how long does it take for you?
I tried React.JS/HTML/CSS - takes too long to develop if you're not a front-end expert. Sometimes just something as trivial as moving a button takes a LOT of time - even with GitHub Copilot and ChatGPT combined. Doing backends with Javascript is also not a piece of cake, I had a better experience with more...

I think where it shines best is in a combination with a human. A good example, e.g., is GitHub Copilot. An extension to code editors for programmers, it tries to guess what the programmer wants to write and writes it for the programmer.
If a human writes code on their own, there are certain chunks that are tedious to write and that you look up online anyway. Like finding a difference between...

What's your process of making new products?
I'm thinking of using the following process to launching my products:
1. Define Problem: something that I already solve for myself and would like to bring my solution to other people.
2. Define Functionality: what the software will be able to do and what – not.
3. Architecture: how is it going to work from the technical perspective? Which software will I use to implement it?
4. Mockup:...

Education. I make sure that at all times there is a mentor figure whom I follow and learn from. It's usually super hard to find people who would *really* impact you. But once you found them, the cost of learning from them is negligible compared to the returns you get.
So far, education has been the greatest impact-creator in my life.
What is the best investment you have made in the last 5 years?

I'm actually also in the same domain, and struggling with the same problem. I'm doing courses on programming fundamentals (https://akmetiuk.com/scala-intro) in text and video format. So far, my stack is:
- GatsbyJS-based blog where I publish the text as a separate section.
- Video seminars go to YouTube.
- Community lives on a Discord server.
- Events are automated using Make.com and Airtable...
Need recommendations for text based technical course creation platform.

Notion is great if you are the kind of person who prefers to create their own rules and frameworks. If following other people's systems sounds more like you, dedicated project management software would work better than Notion. The power of Notion is in that it gives you a couple of building blocks and lets you build whatever you want from it.
