I'm new to all this so I can't offer much advice. Though for my launch I'm really going to try and be intentional about enjoying the launch – not letting the newness and what-ifs, maybe even glitches overwhelm me but rather celebrate the milestone before preparing for the next. Good luck Ryan!
We're launching tomorrow after nearly 2 years in Private Beta. Any last minute tips?

Congrats on the new role Cameron!
September is a big month! I started my own business and will be launching my own app shortly. I plan to get some feedback from some early users and create a roadmap of fixes and changes to respond to the feedback. I also will relocate from Chicago to Savannah, GA for a while.
What is your plan in September?

I've had a lot of success using Upwork.
I like how there is some baked-in IP protection measures, and they handle all of the payments (we've been working on a multi-month project and I can easily review all of the invoices and bills to my account). I also had a lot of applicants to sort through, so it was nice to have options.
That said, Upwork does charge a service fee based on the % of...

Your brand is what people say about your company behind your back. In my opinion, it's inclusive of your company's mission, your product offering, your marketing, the way you respond to the needs of society, your customer support – the list goes on!

For me, the question "How do I get more sleep?" has perhaps inspired more business ideas than my dreams haha.

Fun question. For me it was on a walk in the East Los Angeles neighborhood of Eagle Rock. I had classic "idea fatigue", in that I had taken an idea to prototype in a short time and then left it on the shelf because I lost interest. It was an app like Splitwise, with native payments and such, but designed specifically for folks that live together.
On that walk I just decided to focus my ideas...

Lately I have been using Framer for any landing pages, and their effects experience is pretty good, allowing me to do animations and effects without needing to support image assets. Lottie and Lottiefiles are great tools as well to consider if you want to explore animated SVG's (which often are more friendly for load times and higher quality).
For quick gifs though, I will use a combination...

Any other "design founders"?
Hey all! Excited to be part of Product Hunt. I've been working on a travel app for the last few months that I'm excited to launch soon.
I'm Braden, and for the past 8.5 years I've worked as a product designer in tech (GoFundMe, Lyft).
Curious how many folks here were also previously a full-time UX/Software/Product designer before starting their own product? What skill gaps did you have that...

Take little steps, and don't try to force books you think you should read but find little interest in. For me, that was a lot of the "self-help" type books.
Your first step could simply be opening Amazon and browsing book descriptions until you find one that's compelling. Can't think of a genre? Think about what types of shows you tend to watch. Find something light if necessary.
Your second...

Who are your customers? Is your product consumer facing or business facing? Typically, business facing organizations leverage sales teams and paid marketing to attract new clients/customers.
Consumer facing companies tend to also invest in paid marketing, such as influencers or ads.
But I would also recommend thinking about how your product itself can attract new customers. GoFundMe spent...

The reality is, ideas can be stolen no matter the stage of the company, unless the tech is so novel it can be patented (even then you're not fully protected). If the idea is great, then expect someone to copy you.
What really matters is execution. Focus on how you can out-execute and out-maneuver your competition, even if that competition doesn't yet exist. Also, reframe sharing to "gathering...

I do basic accounting for my small business in Google Sheets. I definitely don't use Sheets to its full potential, as it's not my skillset. Plenty of manual calculations.
How often do you use Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets in your work, and what for? 📊

Thanks for this! Just shared with some of my colleagues at Lyft. I was using Mobbin but they switched to a subscription model for monetization, so I stopped.

Hey Deniz! Fun question. I was working as a mid-level graphic designer before joining GoFundMe as a junior product designer back in 2015. The move to the US from Canada, and subsequent move to San Francisco was super important for my growth and mentorship. Since GoFundMe, I joined Lyft and am now drawing on my past experiences to launch an app of my own.
What was your first role in the tech industry, and how did it shape your journey 🚐
