Yeah the dev life has transformed radically in the last decade! Git def enables way better collaboration and versioning. Async tools like Slack mean less meetings and more getting stuff done. And AI is a total game changer - using Copilot to auto-complete my code, ChatGPT to help plan features and debug, etc. All adds up to wayyyy more productivity and shipping velocity compared to 10 years ago.

Plus all those 401ks are tied to market performance. So while most of us aren't trading stocks day-to-day, the ripples are felt by pretty much everyone in some way.
