I've been active on the platform for a few months and there is a chance you've seen me here before.

It depends so much that I don't think people should base themselves at other's costs. I never had a SaaS with no customers costing me more than 10 dollars/month.

Build a net, do networking, talk to people.
Say what you do, show what you do.
Help those people.

I am a dev, not a seller. But I also don't feel like pushing my products to everyone - I know that when I make a good product that people enjoy and listen to community feedback, customers will come naturally and everyone will be happy.
It is always about mutual benefit and be truthful.
I care more about being a decent guy than "selling" my services.

Any tool that is not made by a solo developer or small team lol, sadly the top positions are now made for big companies.
It's hard to tell with no data available, and I don't really know if actually measuring like this is a fair metric.
A good tool with good marketing (and some money spent on PH from what I've heard) will definitely perform better.
What do you think performs better on Product Hunt?
