Challenge seeker, CEO at @maptiler, Swiss resident, proud dad of two boys, entrepreneur, cartographer & programmer. Over 350 million users per month interact with maps I made with my team - in web and mobile applications of NASA, Siemens, Amazon, BBC, DJI, Elastic, Carto, Bosch, SBB, ... I am founder of OpenMapTiles.org (open-source vector tile revolution) and MapLibre.org (open mapping libraries). As a student, I wrote a software downloaded by 8 million people (MPlayerOSX), worked as a contractor for Google (GDAL2Tiles), NOAA, Vodafone, and others. I fell in love with maps and cartography and made my PhD around OldMapsOnline.org and historical maps. Later, I established a company in Switzerland (MapTiler.com), we build tools to empower people to communicate with maps.
