I taught C++ for over 20 years. The most common question from students was always, "How do I say (fill in the blank) in C++?". In other words, they knew the semantics they wanted, they just didn't know the syntax. I thought, "There must be a better way for C++ developers to be able to express the semantics they wanted, without getting bogged down in syntax."
