Howdy Hunters 🤠
I'm the cofounder of HowdyGo, an interactive product demo tool, we're sharing this free tool to help marketers show off their websites on social media, in emails or internally.
Making scrolling videos / gifs of websites is a bit of a pain - so our free scrolling video generator makes that process simple. No extensions, no apps. Just submit a URL and away you go.

Something super practical that we've recently introduced is having a couple of hours a week where we just play a video game together and chill out. We're fully-remote with multiple time zones and starting a business is filled with knocks and bumps.
It's easy to exclusively end up talking about work - so having a regular thing where you actually just spend time together is super important.

HowdyGo - We're an interactive product demo platform, specifically for small marketing teams.
You can embed a demo of your tool directly into your home page, but we also allow you to edit anything you like (text, images, etc.) after you've captured your app.
You can also easily export product GIFs and videos from the same demos. Which I personally use for our feature release emails, and...

Hey LLLeroy,
I'm close friends with the Head of Marketing for a popular dev tool. They've found their best results have come from content marketing that's been shared on HN. Specifically use-case driven articles that explain how their tool can be incorporated into projects using a particular language/tech architecture.
They're Commercial Open Source, so GitHub stars have been important for...

Not really - but I did have my first prospect tell me that they'd found us via a conversation with Copilot yesterday! So that was pretty eye-opening to me.
Really shows the direction of the way people buy. We do interactive product demos for SaaS companies and target marketers, so it's not even really what I would consider the sweet spot for AI to be guiding people. I'd anticipated it for...

The question I try to ask myself while we build HowdyGo, is that if you're doing something, is there an opportunity to market it or show it off to the world? Like, if you're preparing for PH or you've launched on PH - share it, find a way to make it relevant to your audience. The whole point is to get a big return on investment for the things you're already doing.

This is awesome Daniel - Honestly, authorization is a tricky problem to solve and the current solutions (NextAuth) in particular are a bit painful to work with at times. The rest of the market auth0, etc. are all ridiculously expensive.

We registered as soon as we'd brought in the first sale. It felt super scrappy trying to make an invoice that looked legitimate, but was fine in the end.

The approach we're taking is to generate content about how we're preparing and
I've broken down a list of launch tasks into things to:
- Do regularly in the lead up to launch
- Prepare for launch day
- Do on a particular day / time
- Do on launch day
- Do after the launch
Would love a follow too :)
(PS: Engaging on here is in the "Do regularly in the lead up to launch" haha)
How do you plan to build your promotion on release day?

I think you have to settle somewhere in-between and pick your audience.
Early-on we built-in-public, but specifically in early-stage communities. Once we reached a stage of product maturity we started being more open in traditional social media (e.g. LinkedIn) where the expectations of quality are much higher.
I do think that if you're trying to build something PLG driven, building in...

Nice work Jaume, top 3 is a great result. I watched your YT video, you mentioned broader exposure. Did you get any SEO uplift (backlinks, etc) from the process? I've kinda always assumed that'd be a nice side-benefit to launching.
We're launching HowdyGo on PH soon and this is an area I'm particularly interested in for our product.

Cool work Brady - every time I've ever gone to create a resume it's always started off with me sleuthing through templates online, so this is a nice little speed hack!
Did you make any specific decisions around how these are exported to ensure that they are Applicant Tracking Software (ATS) friendly?

3 things I wish I'd done before quitting my job to become a bootstrapped founder - what are yours?
I've been working on HowdyGo (launching on PH soon 😳) full-time for a little over a year now. These are some of the things I wish I'd done sooner as a founder - and they would have saved us at least 3 months of time in the early days:
1. Built a social network somewhere (anywhere!!!)
Connecting with people on LinkedIn is so much easier when you're in a traditional job. I wish I'd been adding...

I've been working on building my personal brand over on LinkedIn for the past year and a half (having never really done it).
One understates benefit to a personal brand is that the clients you find through your profile eventually turn into really strong proponents of your business. While you can achieve that at a brand/company level, it's a lot trickier without the human connection.

We make it easy to create and update product demos. Then embed them as an interactive tour, or export them as a video/gif.
