Hi, I'm Gonçalo, I've spent the last 13 years as a Software developer in various companies, startups (including in YC), founded 2 startups and recently discovered that my passion was in Product rather than Development.
Recently I was able to change companies and roles at the same time with very little Product experience
Here's my LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/ghenriques/
So, if you are trying to do the same or are just curious about my process feel free to ask anything.

I had same experience 7 years ago - it's interesting way and I think that engineering background (with right analytics and soft skills) is really helpful for Product management role

@michael_karpov True that, I've found that the people skill is way more important for a Product Owner/Manager and the engineering background helps a lot when talking with dev teams.
