What make certain products on Producthunt get a lot of attention?

I think it's their clarity about idea and goal...!

Having a hunter with a large following helps. Nothing happens if you drop a product here with no following and no promotion. For example, a few weeks ago I hunted a fitness watch and posted it here. This is a solid product line, rave reviews from renowned publications, etc and it was just crickets. Obviously interest here in a purely fitness watch as opposed to Apple's latest smartwatch is going to be lower. But there is a barrier to entry to even get a product seen on the day it's hunted.
