  • Best Screencast to GIF?

Hey! Performing my data analysis on a daily basis sometimes I can come up with a nice animation (e.g. people movings from place to place during the daytime). These animations are web-based, it means that they are not GIFs or videos but small "websites" that animate stuff using javascript But I want to share this animation! I know how can I create a screencast on my Macbook using Quicktime. But I wonder - is there a tool that can convert a piece of my screen to a GIF? It may work like screenshotting tool but capturing not static view but animated. I hope that there is something great on Producthunt that can help me with my task. Can you please point me to it? 🤗

Hey Daniil, I use Canva - just simply upload the video (in your case, .mov file) and then convert the video to a .gif. Curious to know if there are any other tools that can turn a screenshot/ video into a gif :)

@jun_gong Thanks for a reply! My perfect tool would be used like: 1) Select screen region like you do while taking a screenshot 2) Press record and stop 3) voilà - you have a GIF

I swear by for https://recordit.co recording bits of my screen, though the frame rates are probably optimised for interaction rather than 30fps animations
