  • A download UX that made you speechless?

For quite some time I am browsing several sites to see how they tackle app downloads on their own website. The common themes I came across were: - OS detection to display the download button with the OS but also telling the user they could download it for other platforms "here" - a generic download button that redirects to a download page with several download cards per OS and some more meta information - a dropdown, which lets the user choose what they want to download The last one I mentioned, is what really got me by surprise in a positive way - the only issue being I cannot remember what it was 🥲 Did you have a WOAH moment once AND remember what it was? Feel free to share it or even plug your own download UX! Let me know what you think of this.

Last one could also have its default selected option altered to the OS/platform. Giving the choice is definitely good, based on the selection you can still show the relevant list of downloads and copy; "just" showing what's relevant for that visitor. Though; at least.. give the option to show them all (separate page or not). Woah moments in life are scarce, and I tend to have forgotten about it and moved on 5-10min later tbh. :')

@ken_verhaegen Thanks for your reply! I think for now, keeping it lean, I will just add a normal download page. And work in parallel to get that selector going. Also feeling this very much >and I tend to have forgotten about it Since I could not keep track of that one dropdown that made me woah. Usually I do bookmark these, but guess I was too busy.
