You can do both. I love to share what I have learned from a book and to listen to what other can say.

No, I do both. The value of reading is irreplaceable. Even listening to a book and reading mp3 cannot replace the meaning of reading this book, because I tend to get more ideas and knowledge through reading.

I like that, hence the importance of YouTube and podcasts.

Also in the "both" camp! Actually launching a social e-reader app in the next week that tries to address this. Reading to learn works best as a collaborative experience, but if you aren't well-grounded in the material, you won't be able to fully engage or discuss. Listen and still learn, generally yes. But effectively participate, def not. Plus, if we all did this, there'd be no people left who've read the books 😉

Each person perceives new knowledge differently. I disagree with the quote. You can observe, but how to act - you must independently come to such knowledge

Don't agree! (I agree you should also talk to other people who read books) You will only be able to get true value from other knowledgeable people if you yourself have the right mindset to comprehend and contribute to the interaction.

@rachel_levitz yeah, to read books is always good idea :)

@shushanik_shahbazyan Absolutely - although I think there is a shift in how people consume their literary content, with a growing focus on audio books rather than actual reading

When you read books you're programming your brain a certain way - and yes, there's value talking with people that have read such books, those would be like minded people. I also understand that you might want to get the key concept of the book summarised so you get the best out of your buck, but reading the book ultimately is the best way to go IMO. Get the main concept of a few books, but then read the book to actually re-program your brain. Many times.
