Do you care about the digital badges and why?

On Product Hunt, I see badges (I currently have 7), that remind me all those badges I earned on FourSquares, and Gowalla's, I did checked in many places in order to get those badges, but now they all gone after the service shutdown or changes. I wish if those badges can exist just like physical badges. What do you think?
