Does ideation deserve better tooling?

Question

Ideas are extremely precious and powerful but we don't have enough tools at our disposal to support them and bring them to life. How can we make the ideation process more productive, more engaged and more iterable?

I think ideas are really abstract, penning them down and them mixing them with more ideas and shaping them into a more sensible, executable form will be more likely to progress.

I still haven't found anything that can substitute having a pen and paper on hand. well thats a good question though
