Both in their own right. If you have long term goals then a great product will eventually market itself. If it has a short lifespan or you need to be quick to market then great marketing.

Great marketing matters more because it can effectively communicate the value of a product, influencing customer perception and adoption.

@hakz Thanks for your input. Great marketing does play a key role in influencing customer perception and adoption. However, while marketing can attract customers initially, a great product is crucial for long-term success. If the product doesn't meet expectations, even the best marketing won't keep customers coming back. Both are important, but a great product ultimately sustains growth.

They both have equally important roles to play. Marketing brings the customers to your doorstep & product keeps them around. One without the other is bound to fail

@my3_murthy Totally agree! Marketing brings customers in, and a great product keeps them coming back. They’re both essential.

Honestly, both of them. You need a better product as well because that amplifies your marketing.

Both, but I'd rather have a good product with bad marketing than the opposite.

@baron_swartz it doesn't matter that everyone knows about your product if no one will use it. If I have a good product, not only will people use it but also share :) free marketing

So, I believe that a great marketing strategy can make all the difference in the success of a product. It's all about creating awareness, building interest, and ultimately driving sales. Great marketing makes a product known, but a great product ensures it stays loved.

They complement each other, you need great marketing to get people at your door, but if your product is bad no one will use it again.

Both great products and great marketing are crucial for success; they complement each other. A great product ensures customer satisfaction and retention, while great marketing attracts and engages potential customers. Without effective marketing, even the best product may go unnoticed; without a great product, marketing efforts can lead to short-lived success. The true power lies in the synergy between the two.
