I will have a specific time, usually some spare time on the weekend, for my side projects. Very focused and do it quickly and effectively.

For me, I have a list of features for a side project.
I am trying to organize the list by priority for the first version.
Typically, I set an end date to complete the side project.
So, I do my best to stick to the deadline, even though in most cases I add 1 or 2 weeks.
