How do you plan to retain the users you’ve gained after the initial launch?

One thing I’ve always found interesting—especially with successful launches that make it to the top of the day or top3 of the day—is how founders manage to keep the users they acquire after launching on Product Hunt. Even beyond those top launches, anyone who gains users from a launch faces the challenge of retention. Many users won’t like the platform, some will decide they don’t want to pay the price, and others will find a better competitor. I’m really curious about the strategies you use post-launch to keep users engaged and prevent churn. From what I’ve observed, there are usually two common approaches: 1. Do nothing and hope that paying users don’t notice or care enough to cancel, so they keep subscribing. 2. Actively engage users by asking what they like or dislike, offering discounts, or providing extra perks to encourage them. What's your approach?

depends on your product type right? our design tool users stick around naturally because they build their workflows around it. but our marketing tool needs constant engagement to show value

Hey Alex, checked out Muse.io, and I love your marketing line - "So easy, Grandma can do it." The Help Page looks very informative. Great job!

Launching soon!
P.S. I’m currently working actively on a project called Muse, which is launching very soon. This raises my question about the ways we can retain the users we’ll accumulate after the launch. Here’s a link to the teaser page so you can support the project if you like it. https://www.producthunt.com/prod...

I totally agree that retention is key, and I fully agree with the second approach. But instead of discounts, I like to focus on real connection. Engaging with users by understanding their needs, listening to their feedback, and continuously make improvements according to user's experience. I believe users have to feel special, heard and supported. Genuine relationships drive long-term engagement.
