how to gain initial users for a small shopify app

so I have created a small shopify app it is free for now and does very basic stuff.
i am looking for ways to get my first few users. I have finished the app and looking to launch it on product hunt. i have tried posting on subreddits, facebook groups but they are too restrictive and almost always block the post.
any ideas how I can reach out to shopify merchants and since its a free app I dont want to run paid ads.

You could try making a list of your favorite brands/stores that use Shopify, research the owners, and reach out directly! Probably 99/100 will turn you down, but it's totally possible to reach out to 100 (or 1000) shop owners. If you land a recognizable brand, it would definitely help get the next few, and then you can take it from there.
