We've tried cold DMs before - take a while to get enough responses to start building out enough data but still worthwhile. Another shortcut would be to find your online community and just be active there and contribute till you build enough relationships. Then it'll get a lot easier for people to talk to you.

@andrewed_91 yes! feedback is everything. try to find out what potential users value and need a solution for and to make clear what your product offers them. we started by doing a lot of cold DM too, and while there will be many people who won't respond, there will be some who do, so definitely worth it!
