Hey everyone šŸ‘‹ Iā€™m Yaokai, founder of Momen.app. A nocode full-stack web app builder to empower non-technical founders to build and scale their MVP. I am a software engineer by training and by trade. While building various side projects while I was still employed, I was quite annoyed by having to repeated build the boilerplates / scaffolding, and thought to myself: All of the stuff I was building should be within reach of an ordinary person without 4 years of university education in computer science, since there is nothing "sciency" about it. Now I'm close to 5 years into Momen, having taken outside capital, gone through a few stages a typical (or maybe not so typical) startup usually goes through, and ready to the world what it is. It is launching on product hunt on the 17th! Ask me anything about managing a team remotely, engineering, product design, AI, perseverance, fund raising, investing, psychology, history and even travelling! (Yes I was a person of many interests, at least before founding a startup)

I do want to know how to manage a remote team

@scar_qin When I say remote, I really mean managing a team but being remote personally. A couple of things: 1. an office helps a lot. I am fully remote, I work from my U.S. home, and we have about 1/7 of the team who do not go to the office. 2. setup a TV in the middle of the office with "forever meeting" on. So anyone remote can just hop on (including me). 3. work in the same time zone. Which means I have to work from 7pm to 5am each day. But at least the rest of the team has a normal clock. 4. I had the luxury of building the team while there. It was stable enough when I left. So culturally it is quite resilient.

    Launching soon!
What do you wish you had known before starting Momen?
    Yaokai Jiang
@alexchen2 How taking external capital actually changes how you would behave. How to deal with things that just take a lot of resource to develop (such as momen itself). How expensive it is to fix technical debts.
