At one time, I had over 18k followers but I’m down to 11k now. I built my following tweeting about activism but I want to learn/connect with more product developers, SaaS leaders and marketers. Will you follow me? Obvs I’ll follow back. https://twitter.com/mick_inla

Well 11k good for you, my team is trying our best to increase our followers as well. We just followed you. Hope you can follow us as well. All other SM platforms are beyond thousands, just getting started here with twitter. Is there a way you can help us by asking your followers to follow us? We'd be more than happy to help with other SM platforms such as Tiktok and Instagram 🙌 Thanks https://twitter.com/TrySyllaby

@austinarmstrong Just followed back! Yes, in a day or two, I'll do a list post of all my new followers from the tech community. I'll make sure you are included.

Also, how did you get 18k in the first place? or even 11k. Would love advice on how to grow my Twitter following.

@siavoshzarrasvand I have a previous AMA post on here that can provide some context but the tl;dr is 1. Constant activity and engagement. Back in 2020 when I built my following, I was spending 6-7 hours a day and averaged around 200 tweets a day. It was the middle of the pandemic so I had nothing else to do lol 2. Find your community (usually with a common hashtag) and get included in list posts. It's basically a tweet thread of @'s for people who are like-minded and should be followed. If you can get included in a few of those from big accounts, you're gold. Because it's a signal that you've been vetted and can be trusted. It's the hive-mind principle. BUT, you have to reciprocate when you get a following for other small accounts that are trying to grow too. It's a ton of work, not gonna lie.
