    Is it better to give an early strategic advisor equity or pay them?

    We're an early stage startup that is exploring bringing on a strategic advisor with a huge network and tons of relevant industry experience. I'm hesitant to give up too much equity so we're thinking about a combo of small equity + monthly payment. Any thoughts?

    @richw that's the idea. It just rubs me the wrong way to pay for an advisor before we're profitable. No matter how much industry-specific experience they may have. WDYT?
