Is it considered rude to cold visit a business to do a pitch?

I am looking to go to a business and attempt to sell my product, but I am wondering if it is considered rude to show up unannounced. Should I call first? I want to showcase my app and offer to build a solution for them. I have been met with hostility the first time I tried, so I'm wondering if I'm way off. Thank you!
