My experience of running a Service Business and trying to build Products. What's your journey?

So I've been running my agency, Team Codesign, for the last seven years. And the good thing that it did is it gave me a great amount of experience of running projects, building teams, building particular teams for clients, hiring the right talent, grooming the right set of people.
Since my background was in user experience, I learned a lot about how to build for customers. It starts not just about building screens but understanding what your customers actually need and then building on top of it.
These were some of the great things that I learned in the first six years of running a service agency.
Then I started building my own products, which by the way were not free of mistakes. In fact, I did a lot of mistakes in the initial days of building products. I just started supporting certain co-founders even though I didn't have enough conviction on the idea. As a co-founder, I believed in the conviction of my founders and I knew the synergy was not there from day one.
Sadly those ideas got dropped. We were not able to continue and this happened to me a couple of times.
Both times it gave me a different set of lessons:
- One time I lost money
- The other time I lost a good amount of time and effort
Collectively, it gave me good direction and experience in building products and how we can do it while staying lean at the same time.
Currently, I am running my agency with a 16-member team called Team Codesign. A few members are dedicatedly working on Speech Note that we are building, and we have already started working on our second idea as well.
What's your take on running a service agency and building products at the same time? Have you been doing the same or do you think it's not good for the product?
Let me know your thoughts and I would love to share your opinions in this discussion.
