Quick audit prior to choosing a MA software

I have been a CSM for a MA software for more than 5 years.
Because of my background and experience, very often, the sales team would ask me to jump in a call, or an event, put on a consultant hat, and just chat with the prospects about their Digital b2bmarketing strategy.
The idea was not so much about signing a new client, but rather doing a quick audit, and discussing whether it would make sense to work together.
Most of the time, it came down to a timing issue : yes it makes sense, but maybe in a couple of quarters, or after a website redesign, or this and that.
But sometimes, Marketers were just scared it would be to much additional work - when in reality, they would be paving the way that would lead them to a better understanding of their target and quicker results.
