    As a founder who's managed both co-located and remote teams, I've noticed some unique advantages and challenges that come with building a remote team. On one hand, remote work allows for a wider talent pool, increased productivity, and lower overhead costs. On the other hand, it can be challenging to build a company culture, maintain communication, and foster teamwork when everyone is working remotely. What have been your experiences with remote teams? Have you found it to be a successful strategy for your company, or have you faced unique challenges? Let's discuss and share our insights.

    Our team was built during Covid-19, so we were forced to be a remote team. And truly, there're some benefits and drawbacks we've experienced: Benefits: - Increased Flexibility: this flexibility enables us to balance work and personal lives better and enables my team to gather talents without thinking about the limitation of location; all of them led us to a happier and more productive team. - Cost Savings: we can save a lot of money on office space and related expenses, you know, cost management is particularly important for startup teams like us. On the other hand, teammates are happy to save money on commuting costs, no mention this allows us to sleep a little longer in the morning. :p - Increased Productivity: we could have more control over our own work environment, which improved focus and productivity. Furthermore, it help team members avoid distractions that may occur in a traditional office setting, like gossip non-sense… Drawbacks: - Communication Challenges: with team members working from different locations, communication can be challenging. It’s essential to have the right tools and processes in place to ensure effective communication. (This was also the original intention for us developing Gemoo.) - Blurred Boundaries between Work and Personal Life: especially for youngsters who have just entered the workplace, and have not yet formed a healthy work-life balance.     We have a remote team and so far I would say that the pros are.. the ability to hire top talent from anywhere in the world, increased flexibility, and reduced overhead costs.

    You got it right about the pros. But there's one con that is rarely mentioned: Turnover. Remote employees often experience symptoms of depression or loneliness over the long-term and this leads to turnover. I personally don't like to hire remote talent in positions where I require stability. Contractors can be remote but full-time has to be on-site or hybrid.

    @tharsalys true, although I have doubts about keeping on site mandatory, being together in person really goes a long way to boost morale and stay focused
