    Launching soon!
People often upvote every launched product to support the community and increase visibility for new creators. It's a way to foster growth and encourage innovation on the platform.

@elaineluyi yeap. Supporting the community is much appreciated, yet that doesn't justify promoting a product without knowing anything about it. I mean beside what they read in the description or see in the demos.

You can get paid to upvote. No?

I am pretty sure at this point that most of the users don't really check out the products on ranking and just aimlessly do it for various reasons.

Ye its kinda lame, I also think that "features" shouldn't really get listed since its largely established products looking for more new users.

@asd_za Exactly. But who's going to pay attention to such important issues?
    Abhishek Gharat
I will clap hard for others when it's their time. I upvote to help. Even one upvote is enough to maintain a streak, so why not make it a purposeful activity and help the maker by giving some feedback, by cheering for them.

@enthukutlet Your feedback and upvote means something if it is honest. Those who upvote all the products without actually trying them just want to get some attention and this is not professional behavior. Some people here don't realize that their fake upvotes & comments costs someone somewhere!

@shownotes streak is working even if you upvote 1 product a day no?
    Share
    Kate Chasten
@shownotes @arthur_leclercq Exactly. And what's that special about keeping a streak? It's obvious they don't care about the product they're upvoting. They just want to make a reputation and get some followers. I see fellows here who ( in a single day) upvote all the launched products and ask 5-10 questions. what do I make of that? They never care about the answers they receive and nether do they care what a tool really does!

@shownotes @kate_chasten Yeah I understand, I wasn't even aware of the streaks and was upvoting product to give support to people even if they do not ask, I do not feel it is a bad thing. But now, I upvote 1 or 2 products a day that I really try to give them helpful feedbacks, even if I am not going to use the product afterwards, but this is also the spirit of PH, give feedbacks to makers to help them improve their product

I don't think many people do this, but really many unfeatured products that have only a few upvotes, mostly less than 10, deserve many more, so I don't think it's something useless, it's like more of giving them a heartwarming upvote after an awful launch.

@hosseinyazdi I agree that many people don't do this. What I'm saying is that no one should be allowed to do this. If PH is a truly a platform where people can find the best tools for their needs, then such people are getting in the way. Imagine one person upvoting all the products launched today. Doing so, they haven't contributed to any one or anything as ( by that person's vote) no product could go higher in the list.

@hosseinyazdi @kate_chasten agreed. There have to be limitation like not more then 5 Upvotes for example.

Users upvote every launched product because they believe in supporting innovation and new ideas. Problem: Struggling to keep up with the demands of launching new products and generating buzz. Nice question Kate. I can't say they're paid to do this. Maybe they just want to gain more attention. You know, being recognized as an influencer or something. Still, I don't think it's moral or useful.

It's like the digital version of giving a standing ovation at a tech show - spreading positivity and support in the digital world! Who wouldn't want a virtual round of applause for their hard work, right?
    Giovani Drosda Lima
It is definitely useless for the platform. Maybe they just want attention, I don't see any other reason. Upvoting a project that has small attention may be good for moral supporting the creator but honestly, if it does not comes with a feedback or a review, it's kinda pointless. edit: Obviously I am talking about upvoting ALL the products, as in spamming. Upvoting some that you found neat but isn't really going to use at least now it is ok. Sometimes you liked the idea and that's ok.

@kitamashi Agree. They do it to get followers also. but the end result is that those looking for really good products will end up buying the wrong one.

I don't think one should upvote every single product launch. It diminishes the key objectives of product hunt. One should ideally upvote only after going through product offerings.

    Kate Chasten
@muzammil_22 Exactly. upvoting all the products in the list is what a 2-years-old child can do. Such a pity they allow this!

I absolutely agree; there are a lot of AI-generated comments, too, these days, which is really sad to see. No real feedback or contribution, just kitty point farming.

Upvoting a product shows a product is being useful to the community. This can also help other users to easily find this products. You can check out FlashApply on this platform. It is actually the smartest job finder and I am proud to be a part of the team😊😊

@theonlyleke Congrats on your app Lbileke. What I'm saying is that some people ( not a few) upvote 10-20 products each day. This means that they never use the tool. They just do that to gain attention. And it's so unprofessional. If I upvote your tool and vote all the ones launched at the same time as your product, I haven't helped you or others! In terms of ranking, your product will remain where it was! Moreover, by upvoting your tool blindly ( without trying or learning about it) I'll be cheating others who might be looking for a product like yours.

@kate_chasten thank you, Kate! Oh I understand what you mean now. I just went through your upvoted products and trust me, you’re actually not just upvoting any product Thanks for clarifying, I’ve learnt something

Every exceptional product deserves recognition and support—it's vital for their success.

I'll be voting in two ways, one for products that are really successful, and the other for products that I think have potential but don't get many upvotes.
    Kate Chasten
@jackeye That's really good. Those who upvote all the listed products never care about the potential or practicality of the tool. Neither do they care about how such voting might mislead others.
    Tim - Executive Talent Recruiter
This is an unintended consequence of gamification. We all can also miss that ratings/votes are feedback. If we don't rate/upvote things we care about, we're sending meaningless feedback to the market.

@executivedecisions That's what I'm trying to say. But if they make some restrictions like (you can only upvote 5 products in a day) lots of those fake upvotes will disappear and the best products will get the best ranks.
