Waitlist or no waitlist?

For many product hunt launches, I have seen people utilise waitlists while some launch right away.
What is better? With waitlist or without waitlist?
I think waitlist builds anticipation and helps you regulate the amount of people using the product but direct access lets you test the scale that your product can handle.

I think there is another aspect... a wait list builds anticipation which can lead to disappointment depending on how well the app/site/platform is built. I've joined a few waitlists and then when their launch day finally came around I had imagined something much bigger or better in my mind.
Based on that logic I would say it is better to launch right away, but quietly.
Get feedback from a close circle and build up from there.

@john_carmichael True that disappointment is also possible. I guess it's about setting right expectations if there is a waitlist or launch directly!
Also, excited about your launch! Will check it out!
@adityakaushik38 absolutely! I've seen a few launches on here promising big things and then completely failed to deliver... the end result, I cannot remember who they were anymore. Absolutely manage expectations.
Yes please do, you can find us on the Liffery product page... looking forward to hearing your thoughts.
