    Get them to contribute value in their first day. For example when I was a CTO at another startup and had a new engineering hire I tried to make sure they merged a useful PR as quickly as possible!

    Prepare a small list of people they should talk to on the first day, make the necessary introductions if they are not on the same team. This does wonders!
