Hi All, So, we launched our product - Product Library yesterday on ProductHunt, and we had 54 up votes and good comments. But we saw products with lower upvotes and comments were on the page, was just curious what is the logic to be on that page.

The same happened to me when I had launched Self-School Product Hunt might have a criteria-based ranking which might possibly include more parameters. SelfSchool had more upvotes than #2 product of the day on the day I launched but still, it stood at #3 product of the day with around 400 upvotes. Some magical things happened as well. When I launched early in the afternoon, I had asked folks in my network to upvote. Most of them wanted to upvote but didn't have accounts, some of them created their new accounts as they were new to PH. They upvoted. In a couple of hours, these upvotes started vanishing and the number of upvotes plummeting. Summary of things that I think decided the product hunt ranking: (my personal opinions) 1. Use of source as a criterion (organic upvotes have more weight in comparison than folks coming through the link which might have been sent through email, social media, etc) 2. Quality of people upvoting (when ) 3. Amount of engagement in the comments section. To bump up and do well one good way is to get it hunted by a hunter with a good following and who belongs to the niche to which the product belongs. With my personal experience of launching my side project previously these are some things that I had learned the hard way. I might have wrongly interpreted something but at will leave that to the @producthunt team to help with a more transparent way of judging the product ranking so that folks feel the right way when the products don't rank as intended. But this might then lead to some folks trying to game the system. But anyways PH as a platform is something that's very close to my heart. I hope this helps in some way @prashant_mahajan . Looking forward learn what other folks here have to say based on their experiences. Cheers 🍻 Balaji Rao A cheer leader of markers
