  • What's you view on AI avatars ?

For me personally they are creepy looking. I'd rather spend hours making videos than send one that makes me look like a fake person. Maybe one day the quality of those avatars will be so much better and more realistic looking, but for now... No thanks. How about you?

Agree, they are not only tasteless, but they are also creepy like an uncanny valley thing + they remove credibility that it's a real person, not a bot

@halyna_plagiarismcheck_org agreed :-) The whole idea of sending a personalised video is so you show that you've put some effort into it and that video is made just for that person. Otherwise it's just a gimmick.

Today I read that Instagram wants to help creators make AI personalities who could chat with people. Hmmm... It is fine to see tech progress but (yeah, there is a BUT) I want to interact with real people. AI is impersonal (too logical, even for me) :D

I like them. Not that they're perfect!
    Simona O'Neill
@salar__davari I can totally understand why. Many people like them. I'm sure soon they'll be that good that it'll be difficult to distinguish between what's real and what's not. Which is kind of scary , but at least then they won't be creepy 😅

I'd not use it yet for photorealistic avatars, but they work great for something like a sketch or even a pixel-art (only for non-professional use).

@zignis Definitely! That's a great point. I have zero objection to that. Anything that's not meant to be a personalised video is 100% a good usecase.

Same, I pass on any avatars honestly. Very creepy.

They do not look good enough now, but that will change soon. They will be a useful tool I think

It's twofold. Since they look realistic, they could be leveraged to create customer testimonials. If everyone started using AI avatars, consumers will find it difficult to trust a brand.
