Why Did You Start Your Startup?

Hey Product Hunt ๐,
Today is our launch day and I wanted to share a little backstory about Unpluq.
On the one hand, I absolutely love technology and smartphones, but on the other hand, they had me constantly getting distracted. It was a struggle to stay focused while studying, and I wasn't getting enough sleep. That's why I decided to create Unpluq. And let me tell you, we've come up with something truly innovative! Introducing the Unpluq app & Tag โa whole new way to interact with your phone. It's a simple physical gesture that gives you access to those tempting but oh-so-distracting apps. By taking this action, you consciously decide whether or not to dive into those apps instead of mindlessly falling into the habit.
Now, here's where things get interesting. People are getting creative with their Unpluq Tagsโthey find all sorts of places to keep them! Some tuck it away in their cars, others leave it in a different room, and a few even pass it on to their significant others. ๐ It's like having a secret key to block out digital distractions!
Now, let's dive into the nerdy side for a moment. The science behind the Tag is based on the rational override theory (link). Essentially, if you introduce a significant enough barrier that interrupts your automatic behaviour, your brain goes, "Hold on! Do I really want to open this app right now?" It's like your brain hits the pause button, forcing you to make a conscious choice. Pretty fascinating, right? ๐
I'm incredibly excited to hear your thoughts on Unpluq! Feel free to share your feedback and ask any questions you may haveโwe're all ears! Can't wait to chat with all of you amazing folks. ๐๐ฌ

This is definitely interesting and makes a lot of sense.
In the book hyperfocus Chris Bailey shows that human brains have been wired for survival and reproduction, hence distracted on an avg every 11 mins.
It is just humanely impossible to stay focussed for longer durations so the best way to keep yourself focussed is commit doing tasks for shorter intervals; max 25- 30 mins,
and every-time you are distracted and want to open an app or get up, there should be a way to consciously remind yourself that you just got distracted.
Your app can fit nicely into this hack if it can make anyone drop the phone right away and get back to work. Looking forward :)
