@_paval_agarkov This is a great idea, I just dowloaded it. Pretty cool to view Product Hunt in night mode 😎
Pavel Agarkov
for ProductHunt it has sense to increase background (fond) images brightness since they do use background images as images

I love it. Fuck you white google!

Really injoyed it the past few days, hope to see it coming on FF soon :)

Pros:

Lots of websites taken into account

Cons:

Seems like it slows down the nav

would love to have something similar on safari. Any luck?
Pavel Agarkov
I have FF in my plans, then will think about safari.

Why not just "Midnight" instead of "Midnight Lizard"?

Pros:

Much less abrasive browsing at night

Cons:

None encountered so far

Pavel Agarkov
Lizard because it can change colors like chameleon. This extension is much more then just a night mode - actually night mode was an accidental side effect of a contrast increase algorithm. But still it is the most useful feature so it is also included in the name - Midnight Lizard.
Midnight Lizard

Midnight Lizard will help you to customise an appearance of the entire internet in order to make it easier to use.

You can set up different color schemes for each favorite website and one default theme for all other sites.

Choose from the predefined schemes or create your own. Number of user color schemes is unlimited.

Pros:

✔ Looks fantastic

✔ Completely customizable

✔ Works almost everywhere

Cons:

slightly decreases page load time

Should be part of the browser.

Pros:

Makes the web bearable!

Cons:

Does a lot of work, slows down on massive pages (like big Trello boards)

Any better than Dark Reader from Chrome?
Pavel Agarkov
Dark Reader is not very different from all other extensions that use filters to invert pages. But there are a lot of pages where you might have header, side bar or something else with dark background. As you can imagine after inversion these areas will be bright. Midnight Lizard process every single element, analyzes it colors and calculates new colors independently. This way it will keep dark areas dark or make them even darker. Also Midnight Lizard has a lot of other options aside from night mode like high contrast, grayscale and red-shift/blue-filter and options to precisely control how different parts of a page will be processed (like background, text, links and images).

Looks cool and is something I would use a lot. Question: How does this differ from f.lux?
Pavel Agarkov
F.lux for OS replaces blue color with red for the entire operating system. F.lux browser extension does pretty much the same for all websites by applying filter that replaces blue color with red. Midnight Lizard instead individually process every single element on the web page and compute the way how this particular element should be changed to achieve desire contrast and at the same time remove blue color from it if blue filter is activated.
