I dig this approach "Every Wednesday and Friday, The Macro will publish essays, interviews, research, and opinions from the wider startup community. The Macro is not focused on breaking news. There is already a robust network of news publications that are covering the day-to-day changes in the technology industry. Our aim is take a wider-range view 1. of the startup and technology ecosystem, while sharing information that is useful, thoughtful, and interesting. "
Hey everyone! I'm one of the partners at YC and I designed The Macro and also wrote a article for the launch. Happy to answer any questions about the publication and hear what you'd like to see in the future!
@ilikevests I admire the minimalist layout and the mix of serif and sans serif typefaces. The little highlight animation and color contrast is also very engaging. π
I've said it once and I've said it a million times... I LOVE curated sites that take the leg-work out of finding great content for me.
This is no exception!
Kudos to the team.
Can you tell us about the story behind it @katmanalac@ilikevests@loyalelectron ??
Also interested in hearing about the development process?
What would you say within 140 characters as why people should come and visit the macro :)
@bentossell Thanks Ben! Sharing information and stories has always been a core part of YC. Colleen talks a little about that here: http://macro.ycombinator.com/about/. We hope The Macro will help us continue that tradition.
We funded our 1000th company last week (!) and inside those 1000+ companies are some incredible stories. At YC, we get to hear those stories firsthand. Many of the people building the world's most interesting products and communities come through our halls as YC alumni or as Tuesday night dinner speakers.
With The Macro we finally have a space to share those stories more broadly.
I realize Macro would have all the insider stories from YC world, but what is the other reason that made you want to come up with a different platform altogether apart from PG's essays and other tools that YC has? I love the content but curious about the necessity of another medium. Thanks.
