I've been using Espanso daily, and I thought I'd share my two cents. Espanso is useful for anything from customer support replies, to sales pitches, or medical reports - basically anything you find yourself typing out repetitively.
As a regular SQL user, I found Espanso particularly handy. Having quick access to templates has made writing queries and managing databases much smoother, and I'd recommend it to any of my fellow SQL enthusiasts out there.
One of the standout features of Espanso is its search bar. If you're like me and forget shortcuts every now and then, no worries. Just hit ⌥+Space, type in what you're after, and you've got your snippet ready to go.
Beyond the basics, Espanso throws in a bunch of extras. There are packages for dates, emojis 🚀, mathematical notations, scripts, and more.
One area where Espanso could step up its game is in setting shortcuts. Right now, it's a bit of a hassle navigating through the configuration files to get your shortcuts set up. It would be a game-changer if you could do this directly from the menu bar.
That inconvenience aside, Espanso is a pretty solid tool. It's open-source, and makes repetitive typing tasks a whole lot easier. So if you're often knee-deep in SQL like me, or you're just fed up with typing out the same things day in and day out, Espanso is worth a look.
