What potential! Will save time otherwise spent on organizing team members working far apart and can't wait to use voice messages to the AI for updates!
Having recently tried out Hints.so after viewing their promotional video, I felt compelled to share my personal experience with this platform. As a product touted to integrate seamlessly with Notion, I had high expectations. However, the user experience was rather complex and convoluted than I anticipated.
The initial registration process was cumbersome, demanding a connection to another platform (hubspot.com). Unfortunately, the instructions felt indirect and complicated, making it challenging for new users who might not be tech-savvy. I was also surprised that there was a requirement to set up a company account, a step which could potentially limit its use to only businesses. Although they required a domain for registration, the absence of validation meant I could enter any arbitrary domain, this way I was able to sign up.
The product registration seemed geared towards integration with apps like WhatsApp or SMS. The lack of a personal account page on website further complicated the experience as it restrained me from efficiently understanding and managing my subscriptions. The discovery that the bot could be used for account management provided some relief, albeit the process was far from intuitive.
One aspect of Hints.so that left me particularly dissatisfied was the necessity to either have WhatsApp installed or send an SMS to a US number for the first registration. This may be inconvenient for international users.
Upon successfully connecting Notion and my page, I encountered another hiccup. The platform did not update the connected page, and any request sent only led to the creation of a new page.
In summary, while Hints.so promises a lot, my experience felt as if it under-delivered on some fronts. The flow seems unrefined, presenting several challenges and limitations that could significantly hamper the user experience. Nonetheless, I appreciate the potential and vision behind Hints.so and believe with a more user-friendly approach and improved functionality, the platform could truly shine.
I like the concept of Hints and that it is integrated with other tools - this can definitely boost my productivity!
However, I think in terms of organising notes it is not strong enough yet for me. I think further layers of organisation are needed to make this a "killer app". I think for me subfolders/tags or even a node graph representation would help!
Disclaimer: I have only tried out hint briefly, if these features already exist and I haven't found them - please tell me! :D
