We are very happy with StorPool. Performance is impressive and expansion is as simple as adding an additional node. Storpool allows enterprises to use inexpensive commodity hardware for building expandable converged systems. In our opinion this provides the best building block for cloud environments.
As our business grew, the number of servers grew as well. Management and lack of flexibility became a problem. Our initial experiments with building a private cloud were promising, but we needed a shared storage system. In our experience hardware storage solutions are expensive to buy and run, so we started looking into soſtware defined storage solutions.
We now have a high-performance shared storage system for our private cloud, which can scale-out when we need more capacity. The downtime virtually disappeared, which led to increase in customer’s satisfaction. Additionally, StorPool’s storage solution is intuitive and easy to operate, which is a significant time saver.
Our experience with working with StroPool has been nothing, but positive. The product just works and they offer us an outstanding support, that is always available to help. I would say that this may as well be the best decision you can make for your business. The impact a storage solution can have is amazing. We’ve witnessed an increase in the performance, whilst the downtime simply disappeared.

StorPool has helped us provide a better service for our customers. As our demands grew, and our customers’ expectations increased, our existing storage solution simply couldn’t cope. Now we’re confident that StorPool will grow with us, and that together we’ll be able to rise to any storage challenge we face.
We needed a solution, which could enable us to provide cost efficient block storage in our virtualization layers. Our old setups lacked performance and flexibility. We were in need of a solution, which can be also implemented without any impact on the production environment.
We chose StorPool not just because of the better price/performance ratio, but also because StorPool managed to offer us smooth implementation without an impact on our production environment. StorPool’s biggest advantages are the high availability of the system, hardware failure handling, and performance. The OpenNebula integration and ease of operation were also crucial. StorPool helped us provide our customers with cost-efficient IT solutions. We received rich functionality and high performance at a reasonable price. StorPool provides high transaction performance for systems like databases, without the disadvantages of local SSD RAID systems, but with similar performance.
Before StorPool, we were using a NFS based solution. Unfortunately it was not scalable enough. We had a very strict set of criteria when choosing a replacement of the existing storage solution.
We did a comparison of the TCO and benefits, which can be delivered by StorPool, CEPH and LizardFS and StorPool was better than the other options and was fully supported solution with an SLA. Pricing is based on capacity utilized and is pay-as-you grow, which is unique on the market.
Storpool is definitely worth considering, if you need a fast, reliable and fully supported shared storage solution.
We have 12 active locations around the world and a number of new locations in development, which makes our case more complex. We were looking for flexibility in the deployment model, allowing to tailor the storage solution to the specific requirements of every location.
StorPool’s storage solution integrated seamlessly with the networking and computing pieces. For instance, in Zurich, our largest cloud, StorPool was deployed in a semi-converged setup which combines converged all-SSD nodes (running both applications and storage) with separate storage-only HDD nodes. In other locations where the power density is lower, the optimal setup is different and in that case is used a fully converged setup.
Our operations and development teams were fire-fighting storage related problems in large portion of their time. I.e. storage is critical to the cloud, it is the biggest challenge. For a service provider it is very difficult to get a good storage system that’s able to deal with the demands of all different customers in parallel. It has very different requirements compared to a traditional storage system.
Also many of our customers are leading global enterprises like Deutsche Boerse Group, SIEMENS, CERN, European Space Agency, and many more. We cannot make any mistakes. Storage has to be reliable and fast, with prompt and professional support, as it is one of the most mission-critical systems of the Cloud.
SporPool presented us with the best product we could have wished for. Taking great care of our data, we have the chance to focus on our core business. Anyone who wants to do the same, will do no wrong by working with StorPool.
We were facing some serious scalability and performance issues, while using local storage with RAID 10, so we started looking for a solution to help us solve these issues.
StorPool is some 50% faster than the all-flash array we now have. StorPool also has better high redundancy, because of the triple replication that is being used and full end-to-end data integrity functionality. This makes our data even more secure.
