I cannot recommend Sutro enough! As a first-time pool owner, I was hesitant to get a pool because of all the horror stories I'd heard about how difficult and time-consuming pool maintenance can be. My wife and I were close to not moving forward with the installation because of all the warnings from friends and family. People told us maintaining a pool is a nightmare, and many even said if they could do it all over again, they wouldn’t get a pool at all.
But then we found Sutro—and I can honestly say it has changed everything. This company and their product have made pool care so effortless that it almost feels like cheating. Whether you're a new pool owner like me or a seasoned pro, Sutro is for everyone. The product takes all the guesswork out of pool maintenance, and it's incredibly easy to use. My pool has been pristine all season long, and I’ve barely had to think about it!
What truly sets Sutro apart, though, is their customer service. The team is absolutely second to none. Every time I’ve had a question or needed guidance, their response has been prompt, thorough, and incredibly helpful. It genuinely feels like they treat every customer as their most important one, which is rare to find these days. I wish more companies operated with this level of care and professionalism.
I want to personally thank the Sutro team for their dedication to both the product and their customers. If I could stand on top of a mountain and shout for everyone to use this product, I would! Sutro has been my go-to for monitoring my pool water chemistry since the beginning. I’ve invested in their monitor and Pool device, and it’s been an excellent decision. I can confidently check my chemical levels three times a day, knowing that I’m getting accurate readings. Sutro’s device has been reliable and consistent, allowing me to stay on top of my pool’s chemistry without any worries. It’s been a huge relief, and I highly recommend their products. The company itself is great, and the customer support is top-notch.
Have been working with Sutro support (when they care to respond) over the last 30 days, trying to get the newest cartridge to work. Have had to take photos and answer all kinds of questions, do all kinds of tests for them off and on for weeks. Ultimately, no go.
Now trying to get a refund on this device and cancellation of service, they're trying to tell me I'm out of the refund window but they'll be nice enough to give me a free month. (THE DEVICE DOESN'T FREAKING WORK ANYMORE!) Their warranty is for 1 year so I should be covered, but I don't even want to continue using this POS.
UPDATE: TWO MONTHS LATER, still fighting with them about the issue. They are now asking me to try a fifth cartridge in a row. I’m sure this new cartridge will work where the previous 4 did not. Yes, it’s definitely not the unit itself! Morons
Even in the preceding 11 months, it was routinely a pain in the butt to get it to pair, get it to accept a new cartridge, and so on. And the value just isn't there on a spa. Pretty sure I can remember toss in 1/4 c of Ph Up every few days? Now I know...
I have used Sutro for a couple of seasons and have seen them go from startup to full production. Sure some hiccups along the way, but no other company has a product that uses liquid tests and I have found that their wireless connectivity is great. I have a large back yard and my hub is inside the house but still stays connected to the monitor in the pool. Wifi isn't an issue anymore like it was with pHin and Water Guru.
They had customer support issues with the demand from this past season I was told, but they always compensated if service was unavailability or I got a bad cartridge and they said they added additional staff.
Using Sutro has saved me a ton of money since I can now run my chlorine at 2ppm and can keep an eye on it daily and if it starts to drop I can adjust before my pool goes green. I also don't have to worry about my pH ruining my heater and I can keep it dialed in with the daily tests.
Overall I'd highly recommend and if you have issues that aren't resolved then ask to have a customer support manager help. I did that and the issue was resolved within a day..
I use a Sutro that takes readings 3 times a day and sends them to my phone. Uses La Motte reagent cartridges. That gets me 3 important readings TA, FC, pH. I use this to do my regular chemical maintenance. This works well when I go away as I can tell the person at home what to add and how much without having to burden them with testing.
